Describe
how
you’re going to introduce your product/service to your target
market:
Where do you find your customers and how do you plan to reach them?
Are
you going to use banner ads on the Internet?
Are you going to use direct mail
advertising? E-Zine sponsorship?
What about Google AdWords and
Overture pay-per-click campaigns?

The key to any game is to use your strengths
and hide your weaknesses.

Think carefully about
all the methods of promotion available and only list techniques,
you believe, can produce the best results for you.
Also remember to think about how much you
can spend to on your marketing campaigns each month.
What free advertising techniques are you going to use?
Are you planning to start affiliate marketing campaign?
Finally, how will you
evaluate the results?
Create a strategy and
develop
an action plan with deadlines for implementing them.
And remember, your target customer must not only know
your product exists but must also understand it's value and
benefits well.
6. distribution
How are you going to deliver your product?
What other companies will you work with?
What insurance policies will you need?
If
you are going to sell Informational product, where will your
product be placed so customers have access to it?
What is your
shipping and return policy going to be?
How quickly can you make/get your
products and how many can you store?
If there’s seasonal demands
for your products (if you produce Halloween or Christmas
decorations, for example), how are you going to manage peak
production and sales periods as well as slow periods?
Are you
going to sell to individuals, re-sellers or both?
7. packaging
Always look at every visual element in the packaging of
your product or service through the eyes of your critical
customer.
In online business the most
important
component of "packaging" is your Website!
Without a
Website that appeals to your target audience, your other
marketing efforts will be a waste of time.
No matter how many visitors come to
your website, if you don't have a stimulating,
trust inspiring
environment, they just go away and
never come back. Always
remember that
people
form their first impression about your product and your business
within the first 30 seconds of seeing your Website.
For more
information see our Design Your Website section.
Another component is the actual "packaging".
How would you feel if the product you
received was packaged in old filthy box filled with old newspapers?
Believe it or not, it happened to me more than once! And even the product itself was great quality, my
fist impression was completely ruined and I never ordered from this Internet store again.
It doesn't mean you
have to buy an expensive
packaging materials and deliver your products in light blue box
with silver ribbon :) It would be very nice though,
wouldn't it? But let's stay realistic and understand that this
is not quite possible - you'll have to charge pretty much
for the packaging to
offset
the costs.
Just try using decent boxes and clean
filling materials.
How hard
could it be? By the way, if you deliver your product using Priority mail,
you have free boxes available at your post office.
If you sell
Information product, pay close attention to
e-book design
and cover.
Packaging also refers to the e-mails
you send to your customers, your Newsletter, the printed sales
receipt you include with your order - every single visual
element.
Remember, everything counts:
every little detail can affect your customer's confidence
about dealing with you.
